Project Argus is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.
As an authorised agent for the supply of speed limiters in Singapore, Project Argus is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance. Our team is dedicated to promoting responsible driving practices and helping you meet regulatory requirements seamlessly.
Project Argus is an officially Authorised Agent for the supply of speed limiters using the SafeSpeed® technology.
The speed limiters can only be installed by companies that are authorised by Singapore Traffic Police (“Authorised Agents”). All lorries will be subjected to a compliance check at the point of installation by an Authorised Agent, to ensure that the speed limiter installed is functioning properly. Please contact us for further information on our installation partners.
The implementation of the speed limiter requirement will be phased to allow for the development, supply, and installation of the speed limiters. Lorry owners will be given two to three years to comply, depending on the vehicle’s registration date. The limiters can only be installed by authorized companies, and a compliance check will be conducted to ensure the limiter’s functionality.

As of January 1, 2024, a list of authorized agents will be provided on the Singapore Police Force website.
In addition to speed limiters, Singapore authorities are also reviewing laws to deter speed-limiter offenses and unauthorized speed limiter works. More details on these measures will be announced in the future.
The introduction of mandatory speed limiters is part of a broader effort to improve road safety and reduce accidents involving lorries. By limiting the maximum speed of these vehicles, authorities aim to reduce the risk of accidents and protect the safety of workers being transported. This measure is expected to contribute to improved road safety and a safer working environment for those in the transport industry.
Frequently Asked Questions
When the speed limit is reached, the software will restrict your speed by either removing power from the pedal or gradually reduce your speed. This means you won’t be able to exceed the speed limit.
Please note: Project Argus Pte Ltd does not condone exceeding the speed limit under any circumstances and you risk prosecution by doing so. It is an offence to tamper with the speed limiter.
It normally takes 1-2 hours to complete the installation of the speed limiter however there may be occasions where the installation requires customisation, which may take longer. The vehicle will be needed to be road speed tested and checked before certifications are issued.
Should drivers attempt to exceed the enforced speed, SafeSpeed® automatically reduces the engine acceleration and ability to maintain speed. When vehicle speed is less than the enforced speed, full control of the throttle pedal is smoothly returned to the driver. Drivers always have full braking and steering capability.
There are three main types of speed limiters. Here is quick explainer on how they each work:
- An informative or advisory ISA prevents speeding by showing a warning symbol or alert if you exceed the speed limit, whilst also reminding you of the legal limit.
- A supportive or warning ISA increases upward pressure on the accelerator pedal, making it harder to push down on the pedal if you exceed the speed limit.
- Finally, an intervening (or mandatory) ISA reduces the engine power if you are speeding, ensuring a gradual speed reduction (with no braking required). This type of speed limiter works similarly to a cruise control system by ensuring the vehicle does not exceed a certain speed (in this case, the legal speed limit).
