    What is a speed limiter?

A device that caps your vehicle’s maximum speed

A speed limiter is an electronic device installed in a commercial vehicle that prevents it from exceeding a set maximum speed. In Singapore, that limit is 60 km/h for regulated lorries. Once the cap is reached, the engine management system restricts further acceleration, automatically, every time, with no override for the driver.

    Connected to the vehicle's ECU

The device interfaces directly with your engine control unit. When the speed threshold is hit, engine power is electronically restricted.

    Tamper-proof by law

Once installed and sealed by an SPF-authorised agent, tampering with or removing it is a criminal offence under Singapore's Road Traffic Act.

    Top speed & tow limiting

Approved units limit both top speed and tow speed, covering all compliance scenarios under the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Speed Limiter) Rules 2015.

    Full compliance documentation

After every installation, we issue the required records. Your vehicle is ready for TP roadside inspections and bizSAFE audits from day one.

    Why install a speed limiter?

Beyond compliance, real benefits for your fleet

Yes, it is the law. But fleet operators who have installed speed limiters consistently report operational benefits that go well beyond avoiding fines.

It is mandatory — and enforcement is live
Traffic Police began active enforcement from 1 January 2026. Fines reach $10,000 per offence. Remedial orders for fleet operators can reach $50,000. Only SPF-authorised agents like Project Argus can install compliant devices.
    Proven to reduce road fatalities
Following lorry safety measures introduced between 2018 and 2022, lorry-related fatalities in Singapore fell by approximately half. Speed limiters are the next structured step — and the data shows they work.
Lower fuel costs across your fleet
Vehicles travelling at capped speeds consume measurably less fuel. Fleet operators consistently report reduced fuel expenditure after installation — especially on long-haul lorry routes.
    Reduced vehicle wear and maintenance
Hard acceleration and high-speed driving accelerate tyre wear, brake degradation, and engine stress. Speed limiting extends vehicle lifespan and lowers your total maintenance bill over time.
    bizSAFE and audit readiness
From 1 January 2026, speed limiter compliance feeds into bizSAFE audit cycles for many fleet operators. Certified documentation from an SPF-listed agent protects you during audits and inspections.
