Top Speed Limiter
The Top Speed Limiter is primarily designed to prevent drivers from exceeding the legal speed limit. This not only helps to reduce the risk of serious accidents, but also delivers significant fuel savings and contributes to lowering CO₂ emissions.
While most vehicles are limited to 70mph, our system can be calibrated to any required speed. It can also be easily disconnected when the vehicle is sold, ensuring that its resale value is not affected.
Tow Speed Limiter
Preventing drivers from exceeding the national speed limit while towing is essential for both safety and compliance.
Most operators configure vehicles with a top speed of 70mph. However, once a trailer of any type is attached, the legal speed limit is reduced to 60mph.
Our Tow Speed Limiter automatically restricts the vehicle to 60mph when a trailer is connected, and seamlessly reverts to 70mph once the trailer is disconnected.
Blue Light Limiter
Traditionally, emergency vehicles have been exempt from the benefits of speed limiters due to their need to travel at high speeds when responding to incidents.
Combined with the added advantages of lower CO₂ emissions and support in meeting “Duty of Care” obligations, the Blue Light Limiter is a highly practical solution.
The operation is straightforward: the limiter is installed and configured to a set speed for normal driving. Once the blue lights are activated, the limiter is instantly overridden, allowing unrestricted speed to respond to emergencies. As soon as the lights are deactivated, the vehicle automatically returns to the pre-set speed limit.
Geo-fenced Limiter
Low speed limits are increasingly enforced in high-risk areas such as town centres, airports, seaports, bus stations and distribution hubs, where pedestrian safety is paramount. With Health & Safety and “Duty of Care” high on every operator’s agenda, the Geo-fenced Limiter offers an effective solution.
The unit is pre-loaded with geo-fence data tailored to any location, large or small. For example, when a vehicle enters a port, its speed is automatically restricted to the required limit, reverting to normal once it exits.
Reverse Speed Limiter
With accidents on the rise from vehicles reversing at unsafe speeds, many customers turned to us for a solution.
Our Reverse Speed Limiter addresses this issue by automatically activating when reverse gear is engaged and restricting the vehicle to a safe, preset low speed.
Engine Rev Control
Top Speed Limiters have long delivered fuel savings in long-distance operations. For vehicles operating in urban environments, adding an Engine Rev Control ensures fuel efficiency on every trip.
The rev control should be calibrated at the point of maximum torque, giving the vehicle strong pulling power while preventing unnecessary high revs and fuel waste.
High Idle Unit
The High Idle Unit is designed for vehicles under 7.5 tonnes, maintaining the engine at a specified top rev to reduce wear and tear on moving parts.
Once the handbrake is applied and the PTO switch activated, the unit raises the revs to the customer’s chosen setting—typically between 1000 and 1400 rpm. When the PTO is switched off, the engine automatically returns to normal idle.
Diff Lock
At the request of customers, Autokontrol Limited has developed a low speed limiter specifically for vehicles with a differential lock. When entering sites with poor ground conditions, the driver engages the differential lock for improved traction—this automatically activates the low speed limiter. Upon leaving the site, the driver must disengage the differential lock before driving on.
This system not only prevents damage to the transmission and tyres caused by driving on hard surfaces with the lock engaged, but also enforces safe site speed limits.
